MOVIES MOVIES MOVIES

Have you wondered where the great movies have gone, are they still making them?
Have you been disappointed when you go to the theatre and see what's playing, especially for the family?
If it hadn't been for the Harry Potter and Rings Trilogy, I think things would be even worse.
I think one of the best two thumbs up movies we have seen in a long time, was a few years ago. It was Whale Rider. It taught some wonderful life's lessons and had so much to offer.

FG...
You are a true New Zealand lover, if you haven't seen this one, try it out.

Let me know what you think of it. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Thank goodness for Netflix. We have hooked into foreign films like crazy.

HOW'S THE GAS IN YOUR PART OF THE WORLD

Well, isn't this a fine thing happening to us. I don't for one minute believe the supply and demand thing any more. Especially when it has been happening at quiet travel moments.
Our fuel has gone up 41 cents the past three weeks. We are now way over $3.00 and probably never to see it again.
When a corporation is gouging us the way they are, (hince paying their retired CEO $400 million and picking up the tab for his country club fees and a plane.), well, enough is enough. And why, would a person getting paid $400 need someone to pay his country club fees and plane?? GREED, plain and simple, and we are letting it happen.
I am hereby blackballing ExxonMobil from my little car.
We do our part in driving a fuel efficent automobile, and hopefully others will follow suit.
I don't buy the scare tactics of the ongoing war and unstable MidEast, pray tell, when was it last stable??
Why in heavens name are we not using more sugar cane for fuel, if Brazil can become totally self sufficent so can we. And other alternatives, we have to push for this.
Gosh, we have the wind, waves, land for corn and sugar cane, etc. Come on people, let's get on the bandwagon, and set ourselves free.

Hula at it's very best

If you want to watch something a little different tonight and for the next two nights.
Go to www.TheHawaiiChannel.com and click on Merrie Monarch Festival and enjoy.
This is the best of the best Hula dancers, men and women, competiting in Hilo, Hawaii.
It is beautifully done and all telling a story, keeping the history alive and all the beauty that goes with it.
Some modern, some chants, all good.

Please allow for time differences, so you won't miss it.

For my 3 regular readers, please enjoy.

IS IT JUST ME OR WHAT??

I don't know about you, but I have been blessed with so many new relatives from all over the world that want to give me money. Imagine that.
Now, where were these people when we had family reunions in the past? Did they not want to be the one to have to make the green bean casserole?
I have been offered anywhere from $9,000 to several million and I can't imagine that If I actually had that much money, I would send thousands of emails announcing it.
My name has even been spelled a dozen different ways. When actually, when my husband's family came over, it was mispelled then.
Now it looks Turkish, when it is really German. I can't even to begin to imagine how I got so many relatives living in Africa. And I am branching out into Asia. Figure that one out.

Just the other day, I found out I had won a big lottery in Europe, amazing, since I hadn't entered any.

When are these people going to realize that these scams have worn themselves out and it is time for new ones?

A STEP BACK IN TIME--PART TWO

Back in February I wrote of receiving my seasonal book of hard to find items and I just got my new one. As I flipped through the pages, there are some new entries and I wanted to share them with you.
I found ponytail holders, spoolies for our hair, Pears's soap, bag balm, colognes, too many to list of bygone days. Fuller mops, Hokeys, dust mops, chenille bedspreads, seersucker bedspreads.
Under food stuffs, there is Scrapple and Scottish Haggis, not sure if these are really a much wanted item. And my all time favorite, Date Bar Mix. Neccos, and all kinds of old time candy.
Under toys, remember the little black and white scottie dog magnets, yep in there.
There was pettipants and culottes and even Dickies, I know you had one GB,
and of course, last by not least, the ole rubber swim cap.
Well, that is enough for now, don't want the juices running too fast.
Enjoy.

CARTOONS CARTOONS CARTOONS

I know this sounds silly, but did you have that one cartoon you rushed to the drive in to see before the movie? Or got up really early on Saturday morning to watch it?
I loved to get there early to watch the Roadrunner, I liked Bugs and Elmer,
but when I got older, I fell into the "Pinky and Brain" for older people, well done by Spielberg.
Once in awhile you can still catch it on TV in some obscure place. The dry humor cracked me up.
